Over Height Vehicles or Loads
A permit is required when the overall height of vehicle (including its load) exceeds 4.15 m.
You can apply for an annual permit in the following jurisdictions if the height of the vehicle or load does not exceed:
- 4.60 m (non-divisible) Province of Manitoba, City of Brandon, City of Winnipeg
Unless the vehicle and load meet the criteria laid out in another standard, the following apply:
- any vehicle with a non-divisible load in excess of 4.60 m can apply for a one move permit
- over weight axles or axle groups are not allowed on annual over height permits.
- the load must be non-divisible
- long combination vehicles (LCVs) are not eligible for over height permits
- intermodal containers loaded on flat deck trailers are considered to be non-divisible loads
Note: General Conditions must be followed for any permitted vehicle. There will be additional conditions that apply if the vehicle or load is also over length, over height or overweight.
Standard Over Height Permit Conditions
Standard over height permit conditions are applied cumulatively. The operator must adhere to all conditions up to and including those for the maximum height of the load or vehicle, whichever is greater.
For example, if the load is 4.72 m high, then all conditions from the 4.15 m and 4.6 m categories would apply.
