Divisible and non-divisible loads
Vehicle or loads that can be decreased in weight or dimension to meet legal requirements will not be eligible for a permit. An exception can be made if the vehicle or load is “non-divisible,” that is, it cannot be reasonably reduced to meet legal requirements if:
- dismantling it requires more than eight hours of labour
- dismantling it compromises the intended use of the vehicle or load
- dismantling it destroys the value of the vehicle or load if dismantled
The carrier must reduce any over dimensional or overweight loads to the lowest dimension and weight before applying for a permit.
