1 In this Act

"common-law partner" means a person who, not being married to the other person, cohabits with him or her in a conjugal relationship.

Common law relationships

5(5) Where a man and a woman who are not legally married to each other are living together under circumstances that indicate to the director that they are living together as if they were married to each other, they shall, for the purposes of this Act and the regulations, be considered as legally married to one another and any application by either or both of them for income assistance or general assistance shall be dealt with in every respect as thought they were married to one another.
