Winter Road Accident Procedures and Communication
Procedures
- Evaluate the situation. If you cannot assess the injury adequately, contact the closest nursing station for assistance. Keep in mind that they are on location to serve the reserves, not the winter roads and that they should NOT be placed in a life threatening situation by flying in during day or night. They may consider driving to the accident scene if it is serious enough, but it is up to them.
- If the Victim can be moved without causing further injury, transport them to the closest facility possible.
- If the victim must be flown out, contact the RCMP in the appropriate area for assistance arranging a flight to the closest nursing station.
