Restorative Justice and other Diversions
A key pillar of modernizing the criminal justice system is the responsible and expanded use of diversions and restorative justice in appropriate cases. These alternative approaches permit offenders to take responsibility for the offence, make amends with the victim or community, take programming as required, and support public safety.
This metric tracks the number of cases diverted from the traditional criminal justice system each month. The overall trend to diversion is moving upward, with the Department committed to increasing this further.
