IMPORTANT NOTICE TO ALL HOUSEHOLDS APPLYING FOR THE SOCIAL HOUSING RENTAL PROGRAM
Manitoba Housing's priority is that households in greatest need receive a unit offer suitable for their household composition. Effective April 1, 2021, Housing Choice, Section C of the program application has changed to allow Manitoba Housing to more effectively and efficiently meet the needs of applicants.
If you are applying for the Social Housing Rental Program in Winnipeg, you may select the area of choice that best meets your housing needs. Selecting multiple areas will improve an applicant's chance of receiving a unit offer.
Similar to other provincial jurisdictions, there is higher demand for the program than there are units available. Factors such as unit size, housing need and area of choice affect the time an applicant will wait for a unit offer. Those applicants with the highest needs are prioritized.
