Universal Newborn Hearing Screening (UNHS)
The Universal Newborn Hearing Screening Act (Bill 208) came into force as of September 1, 2016. The UNHS Act requires that all parents/legal guardians of Manitoba newborns be offered hearing screening for their newborn.
Facilities with greater than 75 births a year have screeners hired to provide screening. Outpatient clinics will be offering the screening by appointment for babies not screened in hospital.
