The act (law) allows government departments, organizations and others who provide services to at-risk and vulnerable children to collect, use and share personal information, including personal health information, about supported children and their parents or legal guardians. Personal information can be shared without consent, only when it is in the best interests of a supported child. The act also enables government to collect information for the purpose of conducting research, planning services and evaluating programs related to children and families.
