Licenced Personal Care Home Standards Reviews
All 124 licenced personal care homes (PCHs) in Manitoba must meet a minimum set of standards to ensure safe and appropriate care to residents. These standards are set out in The Personal Care Home Standards and Licensing Regulation under The Health Services Insurance Act.
Under this legislation, Manitoba Health licences and monitors all personal care homes in Manitoba. Facilities are reviewed regularly and any problems or concerns found during a review must be corrected within a specified time.
Personal care homes are directly responsible to the regional health authority (RHA) where they are located. Staff members from the region also take part in both scheduled and unannounced reviews. Personal care home licences are reviewed and renewed annually, or as required if there are serious issues or concerns. Review results and the actions taken by personal care homes to correct any problems found during a review are used to make licencing decisions.
Copies of the scheduled and unscheduled reviews of personal care homes can be found at www.manitoba.ca/openmb/infomb/departments/pch/index.html
